For this particular session we are looking for papers discussing how the subject of the “Chosen Nation” was understood by both Christians and Sephardic Jews in the in the Iberian world during the Early Modern period. The question about the identity of the “Chosen Nation” is prone to discussing issues such as messianic expectations, endurance to the processes moved by the Inquisition, biblical interpretation concerning the times of the end, or even interpretation of Paul’s theory of conversion.
Papers discussing this subjects and how they were understood by Iberian Christian and Sephardic Jews are welcome.
