June 30 - July 2, 2011 Chair of the national history of Kazan (Volga) Federal University, Center for History of the Nordic and Baltic Institute of World History RAS hold in Kazan Federal University international scientific conference "MARGIN OF MOSCOW STATE AND THE RUSSIAN EMPIRE".
The conference will organize the following sections: "Kazan region, the Urals and Siberia, as the suburbs of Moscow State", "Imperial Russia outskirts of XVIII-XIX centuries." (Section list is open), where we will discuss the following issues:
- The imperial model of governance;
- Socio-economic policy of government as a means of asserting influence;
- Confessional politics of power in relation to the imperial margins;
- The power elite and imperial borderlands;
- Imperial margin and practices of legitimation of imperial power (ceremonies, public rituals, etc.);
- National policies and imperial margin;
- Orientalist discourse in the Russian imperial political culture.
At the first stage, the conference aims to identify the conference program, and then - applying for a conference grant. After this is resolved the question of the possibility of travel and accommodation.
The conference will bring together researchers from Russia and abroad.
Participation in the conference shall be in electronic form before February 1, 2011 It should indicate the name, first name, degree, rank, position and organization (institution), phone, e-mail and the subject of the report. Conference Organizing Committee reserves the right to select papers. About the program will be known on Feb. 1, 2011
Planned to publish the conference proceedings.
