Tradewinds: The Many Revolutions in the Atlantic World
The Department of History Graduate Student Association and History Department at FIU invite proposals for panels and individual papers for their graduate student conference to be held on March 25 and 26, 2011. While the theme “Tradewinds: The Many Revolutions in the Atlantic World,” seeks to engage junior scholars in opening a discussion of the multiple cultural, economic, intellectual, political, and social revolutions taking place throughout the Atlantic from 1492 to the present, students in any field of historical study are invited to submit proposals.
On Friday March 25, the conference will begin with check-in and a keynote address given by Dr. Jeremy Adelman (Princeton University). The following day will be composed of panels.
Applications for individual papers should include: a 250 word proposal; a cover sheet (including submitter's name, contact information, and institutional affiliation(s)), and a CV.
Panel proposals should include: the commentator’s information (including commentator's name, contact information, and institutional affiliation(s)), a 250 word abstract of the panels themes, a 250 word proposal for each paper; a cover sheet for each paper (including submitter's name, contact information, and institutional affiliation(s)), and a CV for each presenter.
The deadline for submissions is January 28, 2011. Students will receive notice of acceptance by February 7, 2011. Papers will need to be submitted to their commentators by March 4, 2011.
