Mentoring Seminar for Graduate Students and Junior Faculty
AERA Division F: History and Historiography

On Thursday, April 7 (the evening before the opening day of the 2011 AERA meeting) and Friday, April 8 (the opening morning of the AERA meeting), a group of historians of education will hold a mentoring seminar for graduate students and junior faculty members.
On Thursday evening, a panel discussion on academic publishing will feature
editors of prominent venues for our field:
• James Anderson, editor of History of Education Quarterly
• Gary Natriello, editor of Teachers College Record
• Burke Gerstenschlager, acquisitions editor, Palgrave
On Friday morning participants will engage in roundtable discussions that will address topics such as job searches, tenure, teaching, research, and personal well-being.
All graduate students and junior faculty members who are members of AERA Division F are invited to apply. Priority will be given to graduate students who have completed their coursework, and to junior faculty or independent scholars within 4 years of degree completion. AERA will reimburse attendees for Thursday night’s lodging, and will provide dinner on Thursday and breakfast (jointly with Division J) on Friday.
