The George and Ann Richards Civil War Era Center at The Pennsylvania State University, in association with the University of North Carolina Press, will launch the Journal of the Civil War Era in March 2011. The premier issue will include articles on freedom in the American South, representations of slavery in northern stage productions in the antebellum period, women on the western border, an assessment of the 19th-century history job market over the past decade, and a review essay on the Civil War in global perspective.
