This conference celebrates the major exhibition of Bronzino’s work Bronzino. Artist and Poet at the Court of the Medici (September 24, 2010 - January 23, 2011) organised by the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi and places it into a broader artistic, historical, and economic context. The papers thus anchor Bronzino in time, space, and the stylistic development of sixteenth century Italian art, without losing sight of trends in social and political history or patronage in Florence and Europe.
Speakers include Janet Cox-Rearick, Mary Westerman Bulgarella, Robert La France, Bruce Edelstein, Andrea Gáldy, Robert Simon, Bette Talvacchia, and Townsend Zeigler. Keynote speaker: Robert Gaston.
Tickets €10/£10, reductions €5/£5

This conference has received a small conference grant from the Society of Renaissance Studies.
