WEBSITE > POP CULTURE HISTORY > MEDIA & SOCIETY STORIES
The Pop History Dig is a two year-old, content-rich destination website dedicated to public education on the history, politics, and business of popular culture. The site covers topics ranging from pop music and sports, to presidential campaigns, celebrity advertising, and more.
One of the site’s topical areas includes stories on media & society. Among some of the sample stories in this category are:
“Murdoch’s NY Deals,1976-1977,” featuring history on a few of Rupert Murdoch’s media acquisitions in New York. http://www.pophistorydig.com/?p=7131
“FDR & Vanity Fair, 1930s,” a politics & publishing story focused on the use of the magazine’s cover art as New Deal commentary.

“Dinah Shore & Chevrolet, 1951-1963,”a television history piece focused on the use of celebrity advertising to promote the auto industry & car culture.

Pop History Dig stories & images frequently appear on the 1st & 2nd Google search-results pages, given relevant queries. In recent months the site has attracted visitors from more than 5,000 cities in at least 140 countries around the world, including social historians, media analysts, and academic researchers, finding it a credible and useful source on the history and power of contemporary culture.
As the owner/author of the site, I also offer a “for hire” research service, and am currently seeking financial and technical assistance to broaden and secure the site’s base. I am open to a range of options, including sponsorships, venture funding possibilities, and/or affiliations -- especially those that might be found at colleges, universities, foundations, think tanks, media & news organizations, and other venues. If you have any suggestions, can offer assistance, or know of persons or organizations that can be helpful, please contact me at the e-mail address or phone number below. Thank you.
