American Periodicals and Transnationalism: New Approaches to Research
RSAP will sponsor a session on American periodicals in a transnational context. In what ways has the (new) transnationalism come to inform research on American periodicals? Can we interrogate the role of periodicals, e.g., O'Sullivan's "Democratic Review," in promoting exceptionalism and expansion? How have periodicals responded to the process of globalization? What questions should scholars be asking in an era of global awareness? Send inquiries and proposals of about 300 words to Robert J. Scholnick, English and American Studies, College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA 23187, rjscho@wm.edu by January 12, 2010.
