This symposium will allow to lay out a state of affairs in the field of research on War in the Medieval Near East from the 10th to the 15th century, both in its technical as well its theorical aspects. The "War Phenomenon" will be considered as one of the explanatory factors for the transformations that the societies of Bilâd al-Shâm and Egypt had known in this period. This symposium will finally allow to propose new aspects of research.
