The History Department of the European University Institute (EUI)organizes an International Conference about "Popular Protest and Violence in 19 century Europe. Perspectives from current historiography". The conference will take place on the 6th and 7th of December in the Villa Schiffanoia (EUI), salla Europa. The objective of the conference is to compare the experiences of diverse popular uprisings across Europe during the 19th c. and to study them according to several historical themes: social, political, gender, religious, cultural and economical. In order to discuss this topic, several well-known European researchers will be gather: Heinz-Gehrard Haupt, Emmanuel Berger, Peter King, Xavier Rousseaux, Roberto Bianchi, Francois Jarrige, Judith Rowbotham, Martin Bergam, Donatella della Porta, Marcel Streng, Stephen Smith, Joachim Eibach and Pieter Spierenburg.
