American Baptist Churches, USA will celebrate their 2011 biennial meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In an effort to foster ongoing, vigorous theological conversations among American Baptist theologians and theological educators throughout the denomination, the Office of the General Secretary of ABSUSA and the Emerging Theologians Task Force will host a pre-biennial conference around the theme, “Memory, Identity, and Hope: Intersections in American Baptist Ecclesiology.” The event will be held at the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico, an ABC-related Seminary, on Thursday, June 23 and Friday, June 24. We welcome paper proposals that address the conference’s central theme. Papers may explore American Baptist ecclesiology in its relation to questions of race, gender, class, the financial or ecological crises, ecumenism, historical or contemporary practices, etc. Papers should be limited to twenty minutes and they can be co-authored.
