SYMPOSIUM: Mexico – Past, Present and Future

Location: Mingei International Museum, Balboa Park in San Diego, CA
In celebration of the Bicentennial of Mexican Independence and the Centennial of its Revolution, experience the history, art and vibrancy of Mexican culture at this major daylong symposium. Accompanying the exhibition VIVA MEXICO – Heroes and Artisans and presented in collaboration with the Mexican Consulate of San Diego, the symposium will feature esteemed Mexican scholars Enrique Florescano, Eric Van Young, David Pinera, Paul Vanderwood, Marco Antonio Samaniego and Alberto Blanco. Topics of discussion will include the history of Mexican Independence and its Revolution, Mexican Identity, local movements and the Arts in the 20th century. The afternoon will conclude with a wine reception in the Roger C. Cornell Rotunda.

Each symposium lecture will be presented in English or Spanish with simultaneous translation.
There will be an hour lunch break on one’s own.
