"INVENTING MODERN SLAVERY: FROM THE SLAVE TRADE TO HUMAN TRAFFICKING"
The Tubman Seminar Series invites interested students and scholars to attend a
seminar by Dr. Joel Quirk of the Wilberforce Institude of the University of
Hull on the subject of modern slavery and why and how it is perpetuated. Dr.
Quirk is the deputy director of the Wilberforce Institute for the study of
Slavery and Emancipation and has published numerous pieces concerning modern
slavery and the abolition of slavery.
Dr. Quirk will be speaking on Tuesday October 19th from 12:00 noon to 1:30pm at
280N York Lanes. We welcome participants to come and learn more about how
modern day human trafficking endures and has been shaped by the effort to
abolish the slave trade. Everyone is encouraged to come.
