CALL FOR RADIO & AUDIO MEDIA PRESENTATIONS
The RADIO & AUDIO MEDIA area of the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association invite you to submit proposals for individual presentations or panels to be presented at the
POPULAR CULTURE ASSOCIATION & AMERICAN CULTURE ASSOCIATION
2011 JOINT CONFERENCE
to be held at the
San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter & Riverwalk Hotels
101 Bowie Street, San Antonio, TX 78205
Wednesday, April 20 - Saturday, April 23, 2011
Your papers or presentations should be planned for no more than fifteen minutes. We encourage you to emphasize audience involvement and aim at stimulating questions and discussion. Media presentations are especially welcomed. We will supply DVD players, large projection screens, data projectors with appropriate cable hook-ups, and speakers. We will have no other AV available. If you need to use your laptop, make sure it is outfitted with the software you intend to use, i.e. PowerPoint, Word Processing, etc., and bring an S-video cable with you to plug into the equipment provided. MAC users may need an adaptor to hook up equipment to their laptops.
We welcome topics related to all aspects of radio & audio media. Topics may focus on areas including, but not limited to the following: radio history, radio literature studies, rhetorical research, radio drama, programming, law/policy, management, college radio, internet radio, new applications of radio, and uses of audio media. Studies may be national or international.
Send your abstract of 50-words, presentation title, institutional affiliation, and e-mail address by December 6, 2010. Inquiries about possible papers or proposals for sessions are also welcomed. There will be a strict limitation of one presentation per person for this conference. All presenters must register for the convention and be a member of either the PCA or the ACA. Pre-registration for the meeting is required in order for participants to have their names listed in the conference program. If possible, all proposals should be sent electronically.
When your paper is accepted, you will receive an acceptance letter, registration information, the information you’ll need to join the PCA/ACA, and the room reservation information.
