Journal of British Cinema and Television
Edinburgh University Press
Britain: Film, Television and the Cold War
A special issue of the Journal of British Cinema and Television will be devoted to the impact of the Cold War on British cinema and TV. The editors are seeking articles that address broad historical issues as well as specific films and programmes. What was the contribution of film and television to Cold War culture and propaganda? What was the relationship of the screen to the celebrated literary responses to the Cold War? How did British film and TV react to the end of hostilities in the early 1990s; and how has the screen looked back on the Cold War from the vantage point of the New Millennium? Attention might be given to specific writers, directors, and producers who made a significant contribution to Cold War issues on screen.
The special issue will be edited by Professor Tony Shaw, University of Hertfordshire, and Dr Alan Burton, University of Hull. Articles should arrive with the editors no later than the end of October 2011. Enquiries and articles should be forwarded to a.t.shaw@herts.ac.uk or a.g.burton@hull.ac.uk
