The South Carolina Council for African American Studies: African American Studies in a Digital Age
|
|
SCCAAS is an organization that promotes higher standards of African American inclusion in all subject core area curricula and instruction for the schools of South Carolina. The 2011 Conference theme,“African American Studies in the Digital Age II” seeks to close the digital divide in African American studies, and the access that African American students have to it. The sessions at this conference will focus on a variety of topics related to the following: New and exciting ways to implement technology in the classroom to support the inclusion of African American Studies, culturally relevant pedagogy in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEMs), closing the achievement gap, African American literacy and history initiatives; curriculum, standards and African-American history and “best practices” of African American studies instruction. The hallmark of a SCCAAS conference is providing attendees with practical information and resources, which can be immediately implemented.
