"The Renaissance of Haiti: A Template for Caribbean Integration"

Prime Minister of Jamaica from 1992 to 2006, P.J. Patterson is its longest serving Prime Minister. He has played a leading role in the United Nations, the Commonwealth, the Non-Aligned Movement and has been named CARICOM's (The Caribbean Community) Special Representative for Haiti's Reconstruction. He is authorized by Haiti's government to represent it in appropiate fora. Mr. Patterson has contributed to numerous Conventions and official Statements, been instrumental in expanding the original Caribbean Free Trade Area (CARIFTA) into CARICOM, and presided over the latter's inclusion of Haiti. He steered CARICOM toward the establishment of the Caribbean Court of Justice in 2005 and the adoption of a Single Market Economy in 2006.
