I am seeking fellow panelists to participate in a session on Civil War Prisoners and Divided Families at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the Southern Historical Association in Baltimore.
My paper will focus on Confederate prisoners who originally came from the North and how they reacted to being held in northern prison camps close to their childhood homes and families. I ask scholars whose work incorporates divided families in the Civil War(from the North, South, or Border States)and their experiences with family members held as prisoners to contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible, but no later than September 12, 2010. If you are interested in presenting a paper, please send me a 150-word description of your proposed paper, a 100-word summary of your relevant publications if applicable, and your CV.
The SHA’s submission deadline is September 15, 2010 so it would be great to hear from anyone who would still like to participate next year.
