MODERNITY AND CHANGING SOCIAL FABRIC OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA

With reference to an earlier announcement regarding a Seminar on 'Modernity and Changing Social Fabric of Punjab and Haryana' at Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla (India) from 27-29 September 2010, the organizers seek papers on the following themes;
1. Location of 'Land' in the Cultural Landscape of the Region
2. New Urban Spaces and Commodification of Land
3. Changing Nature of Folk Balladery
Scholars are invited to present empirically grounded and theoretically nuanced papers on the above suggested themes. Interested scholars may send their abstract of around 500 words to the conveners at the earliest at yogeshsnehi@gmail.com or lallanbaghel@gmail.com.
Indian Institute of Advanced Study will make arrangements for comfortable stay of participants at Shimla. Participants from India will be reimbursed their cost of travel. For participants coming from abroad, the Institute will ONLY reimburse fare from New Delhi to Shimla and back.
