Fall 2010 ONLINE Offerings in Innovative Technologies

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, in partnership with PODetc (Professional Online Development from the Educational Technology Community), is pleased to offer the following Autumn 2010 ONLINE graduate courses in innovative technologies!
These courses focus on instructional technology integration in the classroom and are designed to help educators meet specific International Society of Technology Education (ISTE) National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for Educators, Administrators, and Students; the Wisconsin PI 34 Teacher Standards; and the Partnership for 21st Century Learning Skills.
These courses are geared towards K-12 educators, administrators, and technical and community college instructors. All courses are available for one graduate credit or may be taken as a noncredit participant.
Introduction to Instructional Technology in the Classroom, 1 graduate credit (#0734)
What does it mean to be truly technologically literate? The International Society of Technology Education (ISTE) defines it as proficiency for students in the following six areas: Creativity and Innovation; Communication and Collaboration; Research and Information Fluency; Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making; Digital Citizenship; and Technology Operations and Concepts. This three-week, online survey course will introduce K-12 educators to the main threads of the ISTE National Education Technology Standards (NETS), and Wisconsin fourth, eighth and twelfth grade technology proficiency standards.

Technology Literacy 101: Foundations in Collaborative Tools, 1 graduate credit (#0733C)
Establish your web presence with the creation of an online home site! Through this online course, you will be introduced to the concept of "cloud computing" and the use of open source ware for purposes of professional development and collaboration. Course activities are designed to assist you with your online collaboration skills in creating documents, spreadsheets, and presentations!

Creativity and Innovation in the Classroom, 1 graduate credit (#0735C)
Join us in this online course and examine the International Society of Technology Education standard "Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity" and how you can apply and integrate it into your curriculum! Gain insight into how to balance your curriculum with integrated technology, learn how to design curriculum for use in your classroom, and participate in a collaborative environment to share and build a surplus of useful strategies and ideas!

Survey of Emerging Technologies, 1 graduate credit (0736C)
Begin your journey of learning via this online course and learn how to survey and evaluate various Web 2.0 applications for use in your classroom! Through exploration and investigation, you will become more in-tune to the innovations in technology and how they relate to the K-12 education field. You will examine the latest educational technologies, learn ways to effectively incorporate new technologies into your curriculum, and develop skills to become a leader of technology use in your own organization! Copyright and fair use in regard to education, will also be addressed.
