New! Issue 4.0 of InTensions: "Performance, Revolution, Pedagogy: Theatre and Its Objects"
Michelle Bigenho, Hampshire College (School of Critical Social Inquiry)
Alberto Guevara, York University (Fine Arts Cultural Studies and Theatre)
In memory of Boal’s recent passing (1931-2009), this issue of InTensions, "Performance, Revolution, Pedagogy: Theatre and Its Objects" features articles that examine theatre and performance as critical social practices and forms of analysis. At the intersection of theatricality and politics, it presents performance as related to the imagination, to the non-commodification of social movements, to legal roles of “refugees” and their strategic alternatives, and to the collectivizing of traumatic memories that otherwise are too easily individualized and depoliticized.
InTensions is an interdisciplinary peer reviewed e-journal published biannually out of Fine Arts Cultural Studies at York University. This initiative brings together interventions by scholars and artists whose work deals with the theatricality of power, corporealities of structural violence, and sensory regimes. http://www.yorku.ca/intent
