In celebration of the 80th birthday of Edward Kamau Brathwaite, the Seventh Workshop on Caribbean Theory and Criticism will be focused on the work of this significant Caribbean historian, artist, critic, and theorist. His contributions to the theorizing of Caribbean culture in general, and of literature in particular, are far-reaching and diverse, ranging from his seminal discussion of creolisation to his form-breaking approach to multi-media textuality. The impact of Brathwaite’s work on such far-ranging disciplines as History, Linguistics, Performance Art, Sociology, Cultural Studies and, of course, Literature and Literary Criticism in the Caribbean, the diaspora and beyond has been incalculable, to say the least.
To this end, we invite submissions on any aspect of Brathwaite’s work. Some suggested topics include:
• Cross-cultural poetics
• Caribbean orality
• The performative text
• Caribbean (cyber)spaces
• Tidalectics
