Nineteenth-Century Prose invites articles for a special issue on "Religion and Prose", scheduled for publication in fall 2011. We are seeking articles (6,000-10,000 words) from any discipline. Topics might include (but are not limited to): evaluations of specific religious periodicals or categories of periodicals; rhetorical strategies and their implementation; religious debates carried out in either the secular or religious press, or secular debates as reported in the religious press; close readings of particular books, articles, or oeuvres; Victorian perceptions of non-Christian religion; distinctive denominational prose characteristics; the rise of folk-lore and its relationship to traditional religious assumptions. Inquiries, proposals, and submissions should be sent by e-mail to the guest editor, John Powell (see below).
