Frontiers of Capitalism and Democracy: The 2012 OAH/NCPH Annual Meeting
April 19 to April 22, 2012
Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a city where immigrant leaders produced innovative public policies during the industrial era, we welcome panels that address the shaping role of evolving market systems, class relations, and migrations over the long chronological sweep of American history, or that explore the frontiers of social imagination and/or territorial encounters that have altered understandings of other peoples and traditions. We encourage a wide variety of conversation, including poster sessions, roundtables, discussions around a single artifact or text, serial panels organized around a thematic thread that will run through the conference, working groups that tackle a common professional issue or challenge (see guidelines at www.ncph.org), or workshops. Teaching sessions, particularly those involving the audience as active participants or those that reflect collaborative partnerships and/or conversations among teachers, public historians, and research scholars are also encouraged.
