The American Society of the History of Rhetoric is soliciting paper and panel proposals for the 102nd Annual Meeting of the Eastern Communication Association to be held April 13-17, 2011 at the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, VA.
ASHR invites papers, panels and program proposals focusing on the history of rhetoric from all historical periods. ASHR's goal is to "promote the study of both theory and practice of rhetoric in all periods and languages and its relationship with poetics, politics, religion, law, and other cultural influences" and is especially befitting this year's theme. Student submissions are especially welcome.
The 2011 convention theme of "Communication and Power: From Classroom to Politics" reflects the convention's location, the power it embodies and promotes, and communication's role in exhibiting, demonstrating, and exerting power. The theme, therefore, encourages the submission of papers and panels which explores power and communication historically through rhetoric.
Inquiries as well as submissions should be sent electronically via email to the ECA-ASHR planner, Maureen Minielli at mminielli@kingsborough.edu. To receive consideration, completed submissions must be received by Friday, October 15, 2010. For specific information regarding submission requirements, please visit the full call at the link provided.
