I am seeking join or create a panel for the March 2011 Association of Asian Studies Annual Meeting in Hawaii. As The deadline in August 5th, for submissions in August 5th, please contact me as soon as possible.
My paper focuses on American and British Missionaries' efforts among Chinese Muslims in the early 20th century. I primarily analyze the missionaries' perceptions of Chinese Muslims, although I do consider their proselytizing efforts, their level of success, as well as Muslims' responses. If you have a panel/paper that would be a good fit, please let me know.
The panel could deal with a number of issues, including but not limited to: "Islam in Asia/China," "Religious Minorities," or "Missions."
