Discussant for panel, "TRADITION, NATIONAL IDENTITY AND ETHNIC ART IN MODERN ASIA"at Association for Asian Studies annual conference, Honolulu, March 31-April 3,2011. The panel will consist of papers by David Szanton, Anthropogy, University of California, Berkeley, Ralph Croizier,History, University of Victoria, and Astri Wright, Art History , University of Victoria. Topics are Mithila Painting in India,Peasant Painting in China, and some aspect of modern folk art in Indonesia. We seek a discussant who can bring to bear an inter or multi disciplinary perspective on this subject.
Since the application deadline is August 5, we need to move quickly. Anyone interested should contact Ralph Croizier, ralphc@uvic.ca . More information on the papers will be available shortly.
