The East African School of Human Rights is a premiere regional School devoted to human rights training, research and publication. The School also undertakes commissioned research and evaluations on a range of human rights and development issues for donors, governments and International and local Non Governmental organizations.
The School is launching major Research, Training and Consultancy Programs in the areas outlined below.We are as such in the process of establishing a database of persons (and Institutions) with Training, Research and consulting expertise and competencies to support our work for the period 2010-2013 Strategy Period.
The School also welcomes indications/expressions of interest to collaborate with us on the implementation of Short and Long term Courses in the areas mentioned.
We are interested in the following areas;
1.Human Rights, Democracy, Governance, Conflict Management, 2.Human Security and related subjects.
3.Training competencies in any or a combination of the following aspects; human rights and democracy, human security and good governance and development; Human Rights and Corruption, Refugee rights issues and issues pertain to Internally Displaced Persons( IDPs),Economic Social Cultural rights issues
4.Foreign Assistance/ support to Justice, Democracy and Human Rights Sector.
5.HIV / Aids Management and Human rights
6.International Criminal Prosecutions/ Transitional Justice/Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commissions
7.National Human Rights Institution and Civil Societies. Experiences on co-operation between NHRIs and CSOs ,Management of NHRIs
8.Democracy Reporting and Assessment,Human Rights Assessment Reporting
9.Labour issues and Human Rights, ILO Conventions on various Labour Issues
10.Emerging issues in human rights; Climate Change and Human Rights, Right to Development and concept of progressive realization.
11.Racism
Education – right to education, education for all. Rights issues in Education Institutions Management
12.Access to Justice
13.Media and Human rights Reporting
14.International Humanitarian Law
15.International Law and International Criminal Justice
16.Global Energy issues Right to Food and human Rights
Human Rights and Development/Poverty Reduction, Millennium Development Goals
17.Children’s Rights issues
18.Crime, Social Order and Human Rights
19.Monitoring, Evaluation and Advocacy for Human Rights and Democracy Actors
20.Gender and human rights issues
21.Reforms in Electoral Management Bodies
