The Africana Woman Conference is a recognition of the woman in Africana societies; it does not exclude men, but aspires for men and women to explore the unique condition and purpose women have in their societies.
It is a forum to discuss the perspective of women on general societal issues like AIDS/HIV, sexism, racism, capitalism, environment, health and other perspectives which often the thoughts of the Africana woman are excluded.
The Africana Woman Conference committee wants to emphasize that although women in Africana societies have been oppressed by certain ideologies and in some cases, their own men, they are pertinent members who enact significant positive changes in their communities and their own lives.
