NEW YORK, New York (July 9, 2010)—Peter Lang Publishing/USA announced the launch of an important new series, Black Studies and Critical Thinking (BSCT), as a major expansion of its editorial list.
“Black Studies and Critical Thinking will play an extremely important part in our strategic planning over the course of the next five years,” stated Chris Myers, Managing Director of Peter Lang. “While BSCT will begin its life housed within the Education list, we plan an aggressive expansion of the series with the ultimate goal of creating a significant freestanding list for our program.”
The BSCT series, under the co-editorship of Rochelle Brock (Indiana University Northwest) and Richard Greggory Johnson III (University of Vermont), will include a variety of academic disciplines, including Education; Sociology; Women’s Studies; History; Religion and Theology; Policy Studies; and Media and Communication. The series will include books for individuals and classroom use, an online journal, and supplemental web-based content. The first book in the series, Black Megachurch Culture: Models for Education and Empowerment by Sandra Barnes, will publish this August. Lang will work with the major professional organizations, seeking co-publishing opportunities whenever possible.
