In 2011, the University of Porto commemorates the 100th anniversary of its establishment and the Faculty of Arts (FLUP) together with the DHEPI (previous DH – Department of History) their 50th anniversary.
On this occasion História – Revista da FLUP launches as a main subject of debate a theme able to evoke the context of the foundation of the University of Porto and FLUP, and to open a national and international debate on the reciprocal connections between university, knowledge and society. The issue is open to topics such as:
a. Universities foundations in their political, economical, social and cultural contexts.
b. The frameworks of the establishment and evolution of universities.
c. Academic research and teaching – contextual development;
d. The university at the present: the European university and the Bologna process; teaching, research and entrepreneurial activity: the University mission in debate; university administration models – case studies and comparative approaches; university and society – dynamic interactions: an (un)successful relation?
