"Once upon a Place – haunted houses & imaginary cities" Conference will tackle the reciprocal influences between architecture and fiction, whether they emerge under literary forms or other means related to visual narratives and popular culture. It's an associated event of the Lisbon Triennial of Architecture 2010, taking place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 12 to 14 October 2010.
The event is dedicated to architects, historians, researchers, essayists, artists and authors, aiming at the reunion of a critical and creative international group for the cultural studies in architecture. Guest Keynote Speakers include authors Alberto Manguel, François Schuiten & Benoît Peeters, Arch. Colin Fournier, Arch. Kazys Varnelis, artist Ângela Ferreira and writer Gonçalo M. Tavares, among others.
This is a joint initiative of CIAUD/Faculty of Architecture, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, and CUC – Centro Cultura Urbana Contemporânea, with the collaboration of Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Fundação EDP and Museu da Electricidade, and IAWIS – International Association of Word and Image Studies.
