Learn about the Center for Research Libraries’ African resources—including the new African module of the World Newspaper Archive—in the summer issue of our quarterly newsletter, FOCUS on Global Resources.
The Summer 2010 issue of the FOCUS newsletter, now available online, highlights CRL Resources on Africa, including:
• Newly digitized Sub-Saharan newspapers are now accessible through CRL’s World Newspaper Archive-African Newspapers module. More than 35 African newspapers were selected for digitization by the CRL collection development community.
> A report on faculty at CRL institutions who are using WNA-Africa resources in research and teaching, with observations on user-requested features such as keyword searching, image previews, and optical-character recognition.
> A sampling of Church Missionary Society Archives and other CRL holdings that document 19th-century European missionary and colonial activities in Africa.
