We are seeking papers to complement an existing set of selected articles for a special issue of Geopolitics on the topic ‘Perspectives on Intraurban Borderlands’.
The issue will critically explore ‘intraurban borderlands’—sociospatial borders and boundaries within urban agglomerations and the ways in which they are established, tolerated, accepted, or eradicated—including, but not limited to, border(land)s in-between old and new, modern and traditional, rich and poor, planned and organic, formal and informal, permanent and temporary, local and migrant.
It is very important that papers tie in to ongoing debates within the wider field of Geopolitics, and it may be helpful to look at some previous issues of the journal which deal with related topics (for instance, Geopolitics, Volume 10, Issue 4).
Articles submitted should be original contributions and should not be under consideration for any other publication at the same time. Case studies are welcome, but should contribute to a wider discussion and not just be case studies for the sake of description.
Please feel free to contact Deljana Iossifova at urban.borderlands[at]gmail.com with any questions you might have.
Submission and Selection Procedure:
(1) Please submit an abstract of 100-150 words of the proposed paper (ideally, a first draft) by July 15, 2010, to Deljana Iossifova, urban.borderlands[at]gmail.com. You will be informed of the outcome of a first round of screening, intended that selected papers fit into the larger vision for the special issue) by August 1, 2010.
(2) In the case that your paper has been selected, the final draft of your manuscript will be due September 15, 2010. Articles should be in the range of 6,000-7,000 words. Please consult the journal’s website for additional instructions and author guidelines:
http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/journal.asp?issn=1465-0045&linktype=44
(3) Each selected paper will be sent to three peer reviewers. It will be judged on its own merits and there can be no guarantee in advance that the paper will be accepted for publication. It will largely depend on the referee reports.
