As the lead editor for the Labor & Employment Relations Association's (LERA) 2013 annual research volume, whose theme is COLLECTIVE BARGAINING (in the United States and Canada), I am looking for an author or authors who can contribute a chapter (25-35 typed pages) on collective bargaining in RETAIL (food and general merchandise, mainly). The author(s) will examine trends in labor relations and collective bargaining since about 2000.
Topics generally covered in a chapter include: industry characteristics, the main parties, relevant public policies and legal developments, trends in the bargaining process, bargaining outcomes (i.e., pay & benefits, employment levels, work rules, disputes, etc.), and emerging issues for the near future).
In general contributors have industrial relations backgrounds, but labor and business historians whose work covers collective bargaining are most welcome.
Authors will have between 1-2 years to complete their chapters and will work closely with one of three editors. Additional information provided, if needed.
