This series focuses on the social, cultural, economic, and political factors that have shaped Muslim societies in both contemporary and historical contexts. ‘Muslim societies’ here is defined broadly to include Muslims in various parts of the world, in both rural and urban settings. The series examines the dynamics of various aspects of life in Muslim societies, including political, social and economic encounters and interactions across class, religion, ethnicity, nationality, and gender; the relationship between law and society; transnational flows and the impact of changing patterns of migration; and the role and impact of artistic and cultural forms of production.
