The convenor of the workshop is Prof. Youngsoo Yook (Chung-Ang University, Korea / IIAS Professor, holder of the European Chair of Korean Studies).
Emphasis will be given to issues regarding how the coloniser (the ‘West’) and the colonised (the ‘East’) (mis)represented and intermingled with one other at expositions held between the late 19th century and the early 20th century.
