Writing Histories:Constructing Communities
Historians and the Creation of National Histories in the Middle East and the Soviet Union
A One Day Symposium to be held at St Antony's College, University of Oxford - Monday 24th May 2010
The symposium will focus on two regions that have received little to no attention in the research on the
formation of national histories and myths – the former Soviet Union and the Middle East in the Twentieth Century.
Speakers to include Professor Terence Ranger (University of Oxford), Professor Geoffrey Swain (University of Glasgow)and Professor Mohammed Kenbib (Mohammed V University, Rabat Morocco)
Presenters will speak on Latvia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Morocco, Turkey and the Yemen.
