The Civil War Preservation Trust, a 501(C3)non-profit is holding its ninth annual Civil War Teacher Institute. A free professional development for K12 teachers to be held July 16-18, 2010 in Hagerstown, MD.
CWPT is once again teaming up with Virginia Tech to provide the Teacher Institute program. Eminent historians James I. Robertson, Jr. and Gary Gallagher are among our featured speakers. Teachers will have their choice of focused workshops on Friday and Sunday. Our high point will be the field trip on Saturday, when teachers will tour Gettysburg National Military Park.
To register, visit www.civilwar.org/teacherinstitute.
There is no cost, but there is a $100 deposit which is refundable upon completion of the program. Only teachers will be accepted for the program – sorry, no non-teaching spouses or children will be accepted.
Meals and continuing education credits are included, but teachers are responsible for their own lodging and transportation. A block of rooms is being held for attendees at the Clarion Hotel in Hagerstown, Maryland which is where the Institute will take place.
