Perceptions of Place: English place-name study and regional variety. An international conference, supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (UK), to be held in association with the English Place-Name Society at the
Institute for Name-Studies, University of Nottingham, UK, Wednesday 23 to Sunday 27 June 2010. The conference is organised into 60-minute lectures from leading scholars, and sessions of 20-minute papers. The lectures will assess the contribution made by place-name study to historical linguistics and dialectology, settlement history and archaeology, landscape history and historical geography. The conference will be of interest to academics from all of these fields, as well as amateur and professional onomasts.
