The Graduate Program in History and the Graduate Program in Interdisciplinary Humanities at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, through the Research Group "Laboratory of Immigration, Migration and Environmental History" (LABIMHA), are pleased to invite fellow researchers to submit work proposals for the International Symposium of Environmental History and Migrations. The Symposium will be held in Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil, (September 13-15, 2010). The venue will be the Federal University of Santa Catarina.
In this Symposium will be discussed different issues of Environmental History and Migrations covering all periods and regions of the globe; preserving one of the characteristics of the field of Environmental History, the Symposium is open to scholars from all disciplines and backgrounds.The Symposium language is Portuguese; but submissions in other languages (English and Spanish) will be accepted. All proposals should be submitted through our online submission system.
The proposals should explore one of the main themes listed below:
TS 1. The climate and its implications in history
TS 2. Agriculture, livestock and environmental impacts
TS 3. Flora, fauna and humans in motion
TS 4. Traditional communities and protected areas
TS 5. Energy resources
TS 6. Discourses, ideas and perceptions about the environment
