Dolores Hayden, professor of Architecture, Urbanism and American Studies at Yale University, will lecture on “American Suburbs and the Culture of Sprawl” at Rutgers University-Newark on Wednesday, April 7 from 3:30 to 5 pm in the Dana Room on the fourth floor of Dana Library.
Professor Hayden is the author of several award-winning books about American landscapes and the politics of place, including Building Suburbia: Green Fields and Urban Growth, 1820-2000; A Field Guide to Sprawl (with aerial photographs by Jim Wark); and Redesigning the American Dream: Gender, Housing, and Family Life. She is also a poet.
