The Society for Irish Latin American Studies (SILAS) is currently seeking a voluntary Review Editor for its very successful and widely-read quarterly electronic journal Irish Migration Studies in Latin America (IMSLA). The journal contributes greatly to the aims of the Society in promoting and disseminating research on Ireland and Latin America, with a high readership and very positive feedback. We regularly receive books, articles and films to review in IMSLA. Reviews are short essays with a maximum of 3,000 words. The main focus should be a critical analysis of the book, film or other reviewed work.
As this section of the journal is becoming increasingly successful, we would like to appoint an IMSLA Review Editor to:
1. identify works to review,
2. manage receipt of the works,
3. identify potential reviewers,
4. forward the works on to the reviewers,
5. receive the reviews, and
6. request an Author's Reply from the creators of the works to accompany the review.
This role will be interesting and stimulating, and will contribute to enhancing knowledge about links between Ireland and Latin America. As IMSLA and SILAS are voluntary endeavours, like that of the other SILAS staff, your contribution will not be remunerated financially.
Please send an email with a short description of your qualifications and experience by 15 April 2010 to Claire Healy: contact@irlandeses.org
