The Centre for Non-Traditional Security (NTS) Studies at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, is launching a project on Dealing with Energy Vulnerabilities: Case Studies of Cooperation and Collaboration in East Asia. This project aims to go beyond the themes of energy competition and conflict in order to examine cooperation and collaboration against the backdrop of continuing geopolitical uncertainties and tension as a central focus of inquiry. By doing so, it could potentially fill a research gap in the field of energy security in East Asia and the wider Asia-Pacific. This project, funded through the MacArthur Foundation, will culminate in an edited volume. An inception meeting of the project study group is set on June 4, 2010, to be held in Singapore. Interested participants shall gather in this meeting to discuss the research topics, thereafter commissioning writers from within the group to contribute chapters to this edited volume.
