Call for contributors
Deadline to submit an abstract of the article: June 30th, 2010.
Deadline to submit the article, once it has been accepted: October 30th, 2010.
Call for contributors: You are invited to submit a proposal of an article for a book project entitled Asturias y los asturianos a través de la historia: Ensayos sobre su literatura, cultura y costumbres. These essays aim to show the contributions to art and social sciences (history, literature, philosophy and art history) made by individuals of Asturian origin in any historical period of time. The geographical area will be restricted to the Principality of Asturias, since its foundation to modern times. However, the volume could also include articles on philosophers, artists, writers, etc, from other regions or nationalities, who lived in Asturias and/or devoted their work to Asturian topics and issues. As this book will be interdisciplinary in nature, contributors from different fields are welcome. This list of topics is not exclusive:
1) King Pelayo and the Asturian monarchs in the Middle Ages.
2) Asturian painters at court: Carreño Miranda and Miguel Jacinto Meléndez.
3) Leopoldo Alas Clarín and La Regenta.
4) Alejandro Casona and the teatro poético.
5) Armando Palacio Valdés and the Asturian realism.
6) Corin Tellado and the best-selling romantic novel.
7) the revolution of Asturian miners in 1934.
8) Asturians in the conquest of America.
9) Asturian migrants and those living in exile.
These essays should be written in Spanish. If you are interested in this project, please send your proposal (title, abstract of no more than 500 words, and a brief résumé), to Professor David Arbesu and Jorge Abril Sanchez (e-mail addresses provided below). Deadline: June 30th, 2010. You will be notified of the acceptance of your article by July 15th, 2010. You will have until October 30th, 2010 to submit the complete version of the article.
