The International Conference on Cultural Interactions jointly organized by the Department of Translation, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Institute for Chinese Studies and the China Centre, University of Oxford, UK, will be held on 15-16 April 2010, on the campus of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
The Conference, with “cultural interactions” as the theme, aims to provide a platform for scholars and researchers to discuss topics on Chinese literature in English translation. Speakers of the Conference include scholars and translation experts from renowned universities around the world, including University of Oxford, Stanford University and Yale University. The event will be held in memory of Dr. David Hawkes, Emeritus Fellow of the University of Oxford, who brought Chinese literature to the Western world through his translations of great classics of Chinese literature like The Story of the Stone (Hong Lou Meng).
