Call for Papers. Symposium on the work and influence of William L. Shirer. We are seeking paper abstracts to complete panels on variety of topics. Research relating directly to Shirer is highly desired, but his influence as a journalist, historian, diarist and novelist are also welcome. General areas of interest include:
Role and impact of journalist during war time, World War II and today
Women journalist during WWII
Changing role of journalism & journalist
What role journalistic insight plays in political events past & present
Europe during WWII (various topics still open)
Role of propaganda during WWII
Radio traitors
McCarthyism and the media; media during the Bush years;
Western journalist roles in advancing Gandhis political agenda
Expats in Europe during the 1920s-1960
