Theme: Race and Resistance in Black Atlantic Communities
The Black Atlantic Community Conference has served as a multi- and inter-disciplinary forum and venue for affirming strengths and exploring and resolving problems within Black
communities locally, nationally and globally. 2010 marks our 6th meeting since the inaugural conference in 1999. We have hosted and continue to welcome participants from a wide spectrum of locales, disciplines, professions and intellectual perspectives to share their knowledge and insights as well as to forge new practical collaborations.
In addition to outstanding scholarship on "Race and Resistance in Black Atlantic Communities," this year's meeting features a panel on the State of Africana Studies; special exhibitions at the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center, and CSU's annual percussion and world music concert.
The Black Atlantic Community Conference Committee welcomes relevant presentations and posters on the theme, “Race and Resistance in Black Atlantic Communities,” and cognate topics. We look forward to engaging a diversity of relevant subjects, approaches and formats. Each presenter is afforded 25 minutes, plus time for discussion.
Registration: Please email for a pre-registration packet. Registration is free to the public, and donations to the Black Atlantic Community Conference Fund is welcome.
A detailed conference schedule will be available soon.
