SUMMER SPANISH STUDIES PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSIDAD DE ALCALÁ, MADRID (SPAIN)

The Universidad de Alcalá (UAH) was founded in 1499 by Cardinal Cisneros. It is one of the oldest universities in Europe. UNESCO granted the university the distinction of World Heritage Site in 1998. Many Masters of Spanish Literature such as Antonio de Nebrija, Lope de Vega, San Juan de la Cruz, and Francisco de Quevedo were students or professors at the Universidad de Alcalá.

Alcalá de Henares is the birthplace of Cervantes, and where The Premio Cervantes is granted every year to outstanding Spanish & Latin American writers by the King and the Queen of Spain.

Our academic program:
∙Three summer intensive programs (June, July or June-July).
• One month (6 credits). Two months (12 credits).
• Specialized tracks to fit Spanish language level of students: beginners to near-native fluency.
• Content courses on international relations, history, culture and civilization, sociology, business, etc. are also included. ∙All courses include cultural activities. Activities include visits to museums, institutions, historical routes, corporate visits, etc. to provide students with a challenging learning environment.
We have more than 20 years of experience organizing study abroad programs. All of our courses are officially accredited by the Universidad de Alcalá. The program is evaluated externally by ICE (Instituto de Ciencias de la Educación) and by internal evaluations.

Services included:
∙Orientation sessions.
∙Home stays with families in Alcalá (including three meals per day and laundry service).
• Housing Coordinators supervise entire stay of students.
• Our families have wide experience working with students, helping them integrate into Spanish culture.
• On call 24-hours service for student emergencies.
• We provide medical, travel and third party damages insurance. Medical insurance can be used in Spain and in the rest of Europe.
∙Transportation sevice to and from the airport.
∙Tour of Madrid and Alcalá de Henares.
∙Spanish tutor who meets individually with students to help them with their Spanish language acquisiton.
∙On site Coordinator and staff.
