The UBC Global Encounters Initiative will be hosting an international symposium entitled “Itineraries of Exchange: Cultural Contact in a Global Frame” at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, from March 4-6, 2010. This Inaugural Symposium will bring together anthropologists, geographers, historians, Indigenous artists and activists, literary scholars, and others whose research focuses on cross-cultural encounters and material exchange in a global context. Keynote speakers include Sanjay Subrahmanyam (UCLA), Jonathan Lamb (Vanderbilt), and Taiaiake Alfred (UVic).
